Vita
Klaus Ospald, born in Münster (Westphalia) in 1956, studied composition at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold and at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg. In 1985, he was a scholarship holder at the Cité des Arts in Paris, and, in 1987, he won the Composition Prize of the State Capital Stuttgart. In the same year, Ospald took supplementary private lessons with Helmut Lachenmann. His works are performed by internationally renowned performers and orchestras, such as the Ensemble Contrechamps, the Ensemble Modern, the Musikfabrik, the Collegium Novum Zürich or the Arditti Quartet. Important podiums for contemporary music, such as the "Donaueschinger Musiktage", the "Münchner Biennale", “MaerzMusik”, and "Warschauer Herbst”, have featured world premieres of his works.
