The Eisler House in Leipzig
In Leipziger Hofmeisterstraße 14, lower ground floor left, is the birthplace of Hanns Eisler. After a long period of decay, the house was acquired by an investor in 2015. This saved it from decay, the apartments have been renovated and have already been sold. In order to give the memory of Hanns Eisler a place, the LEIPZIGSTIFTUNG purchased the apartment in the second half of 2016 for rent to the Eisler-Haus Leipzig e.V., which will use it together with the City of Leipzig for the Composer in Residence programme.
